Flowers

Looking at the world
All I see is fear.
It stares me in the eyes
And in it I see the darkness reflected.
It commands me
Submit, submit
I must tear away
I must fight its shouts
I mustn't cower under what it urges
You see something else
You aren't scared
To me it's a flash of light
To me it's alien color
It sends my legs from under
Carrying me away
Carrying me down
Fear hisses in the wind
Paralyzing, its chill
But what of it traded
For a caress on my face
The sweet taste in my mouth
The freedom flying?
I am not a coward
My world is invisible through your eyes
I will fight to rise up
Love will make the fear worthy
It spells out the difference
It sets us courageous

Hey, you didn't miss me, did you? FOUR MONTHS! Four months without a new post. Phew, the whole poem industry has made itself obsolete in turn for my novel...
That and homework...
And sleep...
But as you know, I draw inspiration from every aspect of, well, everything, so once again I decided to draw from my horse. She has an irrational fear of flowers that has landed me on the ground numerous times, but I have yet to recive injuries that set me back from my writing. Hopefully it will stay that way.

The Ultimate Price

A gunshot sounds off
A crack like thunder through an overcast sky
One heart stops
The hearts of so many others break

Siblings have lost a brother
Parents have lost a son
Children have lost a father
Soldiers have lost a friend

Rain pours on broken ground
Trees whisper in a million sad voices
Mountains so tall and mighty
Stoop down as the world mourns

An individual
Killed in a wave of thousands
Died proudly for love
He is not forgotten

--In memory of all men and women killed in the line of duty.

I Choose

I choose to know
He is the love the world cannot give

I choose to seek
The pathway he has constructed before me

I choose to fall
So he will help me rise

I choose to stand
So I may be humbled by his word

I choose to hurt
And he is hurt

I choose to love
And he is loved

I choose to pray
That I will live and die in his arms

This is for God.

The Assumption

In beautiful choruses, angels sing
A song for honor and love
In a glorious rise, mother to the king
Enlightens skies above

The virgin mother of God's only son
Is lifted up with brand new birth
Of who she is and what she's done:
Given life to to his presence on earth

Lifted up body and soul because
Such purity of intent
In treasure of mortals like she once was
Into heaven this hailed woman is sent.

Happy Assumption of Mary!!! Just went to church and got inspired for this during all the songs we sung in Mary's honor: and for such a special occaison, I resurrected the every-other-line-rhyming, which I said I PROBABLY wasn't going to do. Oh, well, this was a special case.
